How to Search Plymouth County Sex Offenders

The main tool for searching registered sex offenders in Plymouth County is the state's free SORB portal at sorb.chs.state.ma.us. You can search by name, city, town, or zip code. All Level 3 offenders in the county appear there. Most Level 2 offenders are listed as well. Each result includes a photo, home address, physical description, and offense information.

Level 2 offenders classified before July 12, 2013 may not be in the online database. For those cases, go to the police department in the town where the offender is registered and ask to see the record. You do not need a lawyer or a formal written request. Show your ID and the officer will pull the record for you during normal business hours.

The Sex Offender Registry Board manages the statewide system and can be reached at (978) 740-6400 or toll-free at 1-800-93-MEGAN. If you want to check an offender who may have moved out of state, the national database at nsopw.gov covers all 50 states and is free to search.

Local police are required to alert the surrounding community, which may include flyers, door-to-door notice, or posting on the department's public website. Level 2 notification is more limited. Police may inform nearby organizations, schools, or community groups. Level 1 offenders have no public notification at all under Massachusetts law.
